2010 Wee-Chi-Tah Marathon and Half Marathon
Written by Richard Dowdy

Wow, what a day!  Thank you all for running the second annual Wee-Chi-Tah Trail Marathon and Half Marathon!  We had about 120 runners come out in the light rain for a fun romp in the mud!

Pictures are at;

http://www.pbase.com/rphoto/wee_chi_tah_marathon and http://www.pbase.com/hh100execdir/root were you can see last year’s marathon pictures and most of our other events, including the Hotter’N Hell Hundred!  We’ll be posting this year’s marathon photos on this page in a few days.

For results go to; http://wfrunnersclub.org/index.php?option=com_docman&Itemid=55

If you like our trail, please come run it whenever you have time.  Just keep in mind that we close it when it’s muddy.  Also, don’t forget our August events. The same weekend as the Hotter’N Hell Hundred we have a mountain bike race on Friday evening and a 10k and half marathon on Sunday morning.  If you ride the mountain bike on Friday, the 100 on the road in the HHH on Saturday and then run the half on the trail on Sunday you win a “I Survived the Triple Threat” award (made by me and my friends in my back yard) no matter your time!  You can see a photo of the award on the pbase site above. If you have the lowest combined time in all three events you (one male, one female) will win and famous “I Survived the Triple Threat” award made into a clock!!!  A very special award given out to only two athletes a year!!!

If you would like to read a review of the trail from a mountain biker’s view go to this link http://www.mountainbiketx.com/texas/trails/directory.php

And click on Wee-Chi-Tah Trail.  If you would like to see a YouTube helmet cam of the trail during last Augusts event, go to this link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CR2uufCmJ_E

Please check out www.wfrunnersclub.org and www.weechita.org to keep up with what’s going on in Wichita Falls.

I hope you all had as much fun running as we did bringing the event to you!  If I missed giving you an age group award, just shoot me an email and I’ll send it out in the mail!

Just in case you were wondering what the winning times were this year and last…

Well done!

Habitat for Humanity did a great job on their first run. The weather was perfect. Some very competitive times were turned in, especially on the 15K course. Thanks to all of the runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors and everyone else involved in the success of this run!
